Wuci Township is near the harbor, so it develops out a distinctive harbor culture with its own unique features. Therefore, there used to be many fishermen who were engaged in making the fishnets and craftsman who made fishing boats as well as many folk arts performers in the booming time. However, advanced science and technology made these things decline day by day. Consequently, traditional skills are dying out. With these traditional skill owners becoming older and physically weaker and no one wanting to learn their skills, forced by making both ends meet, they may end up passing their unique traditional skills to nobody.

　　What we can do now is to try our best to keep these cultures. As to those that couldn’t stand with the time passing, we would record their performances detailedly. Doing so, we hope to enable everybody to find out about the secret and marrow among them. What’s more, we hope to make a clear note in history for this group of people who make great efforts to devote and cultivate quietly. Besides, there are many arts groups in Wuci, such as folk dance clubs, Chinese music clubs and Wuci Literary Association. Under their hard-working management, cultural developments in Wuci turn a new page.

　　Observing the unique folk activities in one place carefully, we can see how the locals live, how they behave and their customs. The temples which cause the offering fires to burn resplendently and the locals’ paying attention to temple fairs can show how they trust deities piously. The Matsu pilgrimage in Hao Tian Temple, Yuan Tian Temple and Chao Yuan Temple are the main events every year. Of them, Hao Tian Temple is the oldest, with most believers joining the event the biggest scale of the event, due to its praying for a helpful climate for the produce of bumper crops. On the other hand, Chao Yuan Temple, situated on the Old Street, worships the god for sea trade and has a different kind of pilgrimage. It pays to observe and enjoy watching to see the difference.
