So far as industries are concerned, 143-hectare Taichung Harbor Related Industrial Park was inaugurated in 1980. Currently, there are more than one hundred factories in the industrial park, with more than five thousand workers and creating a combined revenue surpassing 100 billion NT dollars. These factories are divided into nine groups: food processing, rubber manufacturing, paper processing, chemicals manufacturing, electronics, textile, woodworking machinery, vehicle repair/assembly and metal machinery. Of them, Taiwan Glass Ind. Corp., with an area of 30 hectares, is the largest-scale company. Half companies are export-oriented and the other half are for domestic need, both contribute a lot to the development of Taiwan’s economy.
Large companies in Wuci Township include Taiwan Glass Ind. Corp, Ideal Bike Corporation, Fu-Ta Textile Co., Ltd., Triko Foods Co., Ltd. and Hwa Yuan Foods Co., Ltd. Basically speaking, industries in Wuci Township are traditional ones. Of them, textile and food processing are both well developed.
Big restaurants in Wuci, including renowned New Palace, Zhong Nan Hai, Zhong Gang, San Yuan, Zhuang Yuan and Lien Jun, offer fresh seafood. Commercial district around Linguang Road, Sec. 3, which is famous for the Import goods, attracted many visitors in the ‘70s and ‘80s when Taichung Harbor was open. Even to this day, certain customers would visit here. The Culture & Industry Building of Wuci Farmers’ Association collects many ancient farming tools, which is a must-see to most visitors. Besides, there are two cable TV companies in Wuci Township, namely West Coast Cable TV Company and Pacific Cable TV Company. |
